Welcome to hackNY
hackNY aims to federate the next generation of hackers for the New York innovation community.
Co-organized by faculty from NYU and Columbia, and with a board of advisors which includes educators, technologists, and entrepreneurs, hackNY organizes the summer Fellows program and student ‘hackathons’ during the school year in order to create and empower a community of student-technologists.
hackNY Fellows Program:
The summer Fellows program pairs quantitative and computational students with startups which can demonstrate a strong mentoring environment: a problem for a student to work on, a person to mentor them, and a place for them to work. Students enjoy free housing together and a pedagogical lecture series to introduce them to the ins and outs of joining and founding a startup. Students interested in the 2013 hackNY Fellows prgram can apply here. We will continue to accept applications via rolling admissions until the class of 2013 hackNY Fellows is complete.
hackNY Student Hackathons:
hackNY organizes once-a-semester student ‘hackathons’: 24-hour coding events in which NYC startups present their technologies and students build original applications based on them. Winning teams have presented at the New York Tech Meetup. Our seventh hackathon will be the spring 2013 hackNY student hackathon, April 6-7, 2012. Students are encouraged to sign up via hackerleague.org and startups are encouraged to sign up for the hackNY news for announcements about how to get involved.
